The Ventura County Film Festival 20 Years of Movie and Green Awareness

The Ventura Film Festival is established as a diverse genre worldwide film festival that builds consciousness about ecological concerns including forest and sea protection and rehabilitation, through an annual film festival and complementary events. The event capitalizes on the strength of cinema to encourage participation and develop substantial discourse on these critical conservation concerns.

The Ventura Film Festival was founded in 2004 and has displayed hundreds of movies, commonly surpassing 200 films each summer, and has garnered interest from the global film industry. Throughout its history, the event has grown into a significant cultural event that connects film artists, environmental champions, and spectators from around the world.

Memorable occasions have featured showcasing renowned filmmaker Dylan O'Neil, the inaugural world champion surfers Peter "PT" Townend together with Ian Cairns, four-time world champion Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/mixed martial arts fighter the celebrated Fabio Leopoldo, and the 50th Anniversary of West Side Story, which comprised receiving the entire Academy Award winning cast of West Side Story, including Academy here Award winner/Golden Globe winner George Chakiris together with Golden Globe recipient/Oscar nominee Russ Tamblyn. These extraordinary guests and events have reinforced the festival's recognition as a leading location for celebrating cinema and the talents who make it.

The founder and executive director of the Ventura Film Festival was selected to take part, together with many of Hollywood's biggest stars, in the 50th Anniversary of West Side Story and Hollywood's legendary footprint/handprint ceremony for Academy Award champions Rita Moreno, George Chakiris, along with Golden Globe champion Russ Tamblyn at the iconic Chinese Theater in Hollywood. This gathering also operated as the official BluRay launch by Fox and MGM of the beloved West Side Story, which is commonly viewed by critics and fans as the finest musical of all time. This distinguished honor and involvement demonstrates the festival's important standing and honored place within the film industry.
